Wear and tear can be tough on your car, which is why Porsche dealers recommend getting your car a safety inspection at least once a year. During this routine inspection, your mechanic will check on a number of features on your car to ensure they are all operating within a safe range. Of all these features that they check, here are some of the most important and most likely to need replacing if damaged.

3 Things to Get Checked During a Car Safety Inspection_Porsche Beachwood

Brakes

The most obvious safety features on your car are also some of the ones that wear down the quickest. Modern Porsches come with brake calipers that apply the braking force to the rim of the brake. These types of brakes are much longer lasting than disk brakes, however, they will still wear down over time as you brake a lot, especially if you ever have to apply your emergency brakes at high speeds.

Luckily, these brake calipers are also less expensive and easier to repair than disk brakes, so you won’t get a huge bill for replacing your worn-down brake calipers.

Lights

Lights are one of the most important safety features on your car, and if they are damaged, they can result in an accident almost immediately. If one of your front headlights is out, drivers coming the other way may assume that you are on a motorbike and may invade your lane while overtaking.

Also, police will pull you over straight away if they see you are driving with a damaged headlight, so make sure you keep them in working condition.

Tires

Tires give you grip as you go around corners, but they also help by adding grip when you apply the brakes. If the tread on your tires has been worn down by excessive fast cornering or braking, you will find your stopping distance rising massively, and your emergency brakes becoming less functional.

Not only that but different seasons and terrains require different tires to drive optimally. With winter around the corner, your safety inspector might suggest that you switch to winter or snow tires for a few months to help with the wet and icy conditions.

These are just a few of the most important parts of your car that you should get checked during an inspection. If any one of these isn’t working properly, you could find yourself in a bad accident, so it is absolutely essential that they’re in good working condition. If you feel any of these aren’t operating correctly, come and see our professional mechanics at Porsche Beachwood straight away and we can get your car fixed up.
